The concept of consolidating emergency communications in southwest British Columbia began following a series of international disasters, including the earthquake in San Francisco. These incidents highlighted the importance of good communications between responders when disaster strikes.

Through a 9-1-1 call centre, radio and dispatch systems, E-Comm provides emergency communication services and support systems to emergency responders and the two million residents of southwest British Columbia.

As the project managers, the City of Vancouver retained ravendesign.ca to provide interior and exterior signage and wayfinding systems for the facility. It was essential that the design response be highly legible and immediately recognizable.
