Canada Place was originally built as the Canadian Pavilion for Vancouver's Expo 86. The four-block long pier then became a mixed use facility with exhibition and convention centre, hotel, cruise ship terminal, office tower cinema, retail and parkade. Canada Place Corp operate the landmark pier and over a series of assignments ravendesign.ca has assisted them with improvements to their signage and way-finding program for the site.

On this project ravendesign.ca was invited to explore design options for the existing principal vehicular

'gateway' entrance for the parkade. The design concepts deployed large tubular steel structures and porcelain enameled steel panels which are part of the vernacular of the original architecture. (Existing sign shown top left for comparison). The designs also incorporated large scale LED video screens to display the cruise ships currently in port and other real-time changeable information.
