Sited in a former conference centre, the project was a unique opportunity to participate in restoring to community use a vacant section of Arthur Erickson's great civic complex. The primary objective was to complement the existing interior architecture. ravendesign.ca provided a comprehensive range of services from the start of the project and collaborated with a number of specialized consultants. Custom-designed for its former use, the space has a geometry and personality that were complex to adapt. With the lower floor below ground, the design focused

on transparency, an extensive use of glass, and improved lighting. "The renovations are truly spectacular, you have created a bright, welcoming, classy space. Everyone loves the building. [We have found] your appreciation of the uniqueness of academic needs very useful." Dr Barry C McBride, VP Academic and Provost, UBC
